Queen’s Cup Nature Trail – Whiskers Point Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada (Easy)

Good Morning Trail Seekers

Todays trail is right here at Whiskers Point Provincial Park. Its a short little hike, just under a km, but enough to get out away from the campsite and enjoy the peacefulness of the forest, great views of the lake and hear the waves beat up on the shore.

Directions

Head north on Highway 97 North to Whiskers Point Provincial Park. It’s about 1 hour and 10 minutes (approximately 117km) from Prince George. Turn left, if heading north, into the park as if you were going to the camp sites. Take the first left towards campsites 25 – 51.

Head down about 100 meters and you will see the sign at the trail head on the left hand side.

There is a spot that you can park for day parking in the beach parking lot if you wish to do so. In that case head straight in all the way to the end and you can turn left or right into either of those parking lots. I recommend the left one as it is closer to the trail. Walk up the road to your left 600 meters or so until you get to the trail head.

The Trail

As you head in the trail is quite level and well maintained but a little damp and muddy as it has been a wet summer this year.

At 0.2 km it starts to go uphill until it levels out 0.4 km. At 0.6 km you take a U-turn in the trail and start heading back along the lake. At this point you will start seeing glimpses of the lake through the trees.

There is a little trail that appears at 0.7 km on the left that goes to the edge of the lake. This is a great place to take some great pictures of the lake.

At this point you are almost done the trail only 100 meters left to go and you are at the same road that you entered the trail on just about 200 meters down the road. Take a right at the road and head up to the trail head where you started to or take a left and head down to the beach and enjoy some sunshine and water fun. Happy exploring!!!

Trail notes

This is a trail that you can definitely wear whatever footwear you like. There is a steepish climb but I did it in my sandals just fine. This is also a trail that children would have no problem navigating. I walked this trail in about 20 minutes.
